a little introduction

listen to me narrate this here:

I believe that creativity is a direct expression of Source. That as artists we walk the rainbow bridge between the worlds of the mundane and divine. As such we speak the language of the hidden.

Hello! I’m Beka, the voice and visioneer behind Ginger*Urchin: a lifestyle blog that blends a love of earth medicine and fascination with the creative process to find renaissance soul’utions for multipassionate living.

With an ever curious mind, topics evolve season to season according to what I am most excited by or struggling with at the time. Threaded through this you will find me writing about my latest creations and photographic adventures, the books I am reading and lessons I am learning, musings on the creative process itself and the things that inspire me.

To get a taste of Ginger*Urchin from the archives, you may enjoy these past favourites...

:: my growing library of local animal medicine
:: what’s typically in my art kit when on the road
:: four clever out-of-camera tricks that don't require post-editing
:: how I am using my Smash* book as a junk drawer memory keeper
:: and some go-to ways I like to start a new blank journal

In addition to writing this blog I currently have a small but growing Society6 print shop offering curated selections of my natural history and art photography. I also offer New Moon and bespoke intuitive tarot sessions with Kim Krans' Wild Unknown 1st Edition deck, here on the blog.

With a passion for exploring new ideas and a continual eye on the future, this is only the beginning for Ginger*Urchin. Sign up and automagically receive the latest update direct to your inbox, or follow with either Bloglovin or Feedly.

In a previous life I studied ballet, trained in architecture, worked in high street retail and hospitality, before switching to media sales and then software development. Originally from England, in 2009 I emigrated to Canada and began a new chapter outside the corporate world as an intuitive artist and journey walker.

Living in one of the Okanagan-Shuswap's pine-covered valleys with my super-hero husband and two awesome punklings, today I am a writer, photographer, student of earth medicine, a designer and maker, gamer and toy collector. I love natural and social history, have a passion for creating beauty with whatever tools I have to hand, and am learning to manage my high-speed creative brain that when left unchecked induces irrational anxiety. A fun time is to be had here, I tell you!

Join me on social media with Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest, or write to me direct. I love connecting with like-minded folks who appreciate, among other things, voltaic sharp wit, the lively exchange of ideas and the simple joy of lifelong learning.

Thank you for visiting Ginger*Urchin today, I look forward to meeting you soon...
